This is a laser cutting and etching template to make your own custom faceplates for the Warthog throttle, made available by request.

You will need to modify the instrument labels yourself; the free software "Inkscape" can be used for this. The labels that I used for making my own faceplate are included as an example; you will need to modify or replace these with your own.

You will need to place your own cutting order with ponoko.com once your template is customized to your satisfaction. This will likely be $50 to $100 depending on how many faceplates you cut out of the sheet and how much engraving is on each.

This template contains the cutting lines for laser-cutting the faceplates, as well as indicators of where the backlights are located to help you better arrange your labels to take advantage of the Warthog throttle's illumination.

If you are in the UK, you could look into RazorLab.co.uk for cheaper shipping from a closer location, however at time of writing they do not offer the two-color black-on-white plastic used for etched-label backlit faceplates.

I'm afraid I will not be able to assist or advise.

Before you can download this file, Ponoko will have you confirm you understand the boilerplate license which states that you cannot modify the file, however I grant permission to modify the file for your own personal non-commercial use, so grab Inkscape and customize the faceplate to be exactly what you want it to be!
(Once you have purchased the file, it will be available under "My Designs" in your Ponoko account, and from there you are able to open it and download it. Use Inkscape to edit it, then upload the new file to your Ponoko account to get it manufactured)

For material to cut, use:
Acrylic - Two Color - Black on White
1.5mm thick
Size 24x12"

(If you have more time than money you could save $16 off the materials-cost by adapting the template to use the smaller material size ("P1"), but that smaller sheet is not quite large enough to fit both panels of a faceplate, so you would have to either shave a few mm off one of the panels, or perhaps split one into smaller parts that can be arranged to better use the unused area. The larger material has enough space to create three (or more?) sets of faceplates... or perhaps some other kind of custom control panel you might like to make?)

Removing the stock faceplates from the Throttle:
It's simple but a bit deceptive; just remove the faceplate screws (two on the smaller plate, three on the larger plate), then pull of the plates. The trick is that they're also being held in place by adhesive tape, so you'll need to pry them up slowly enough for the tape to release its grip. The larger plate has a hole for the throttle levers, but it's shaped like a "C" not a "O", so you can use that split to maneuver it off/onto the throttle without taking apart the levers.
