Thingiverse is a community of makers who upload digital designs to share with other members. What impresses me about the community is that people are constantly pushing 3D printing in new directions by offering suggestions or improving other&#8217;s designs&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ponoko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/WP_000274_display_medium.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a>Thingiverse user <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thingiverse.com\/thing:12798\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">eried<\/a> has created some 3D printable velcro adhesive which works relatively well given that it is coarser than mass produced velcro. As a first prototype it shows a lot of promise and is an excellent proof of concept.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Cosa-M\u00e1tica: World&#039;s first 3d printed velcro demonstration\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BtLSMI3xVDY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The velcro is printed with 0.3mm ABS with a MK6 extruder on a Makerbot. Due to current printing limitations eried mentions you&#8217;ll likely need to use a knife to clean up some of the nodules.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re interested in eried&#8217;s work, he has provided files for download including STL and Sketchup.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>David is an industrial designer from New Zealand.
