This lacy necklace is laser cut from wool felt and comes in black, grey, pink and orange. Three snap positions allow for adjustable fit. We generated the dynamic cellular pattern by creating software that models a radial spring mesh under tension. By applying forces to the mesh, we can create an infinite variety of designs. This necklace is currently not in stock and will take several weeks to make.

Transient Cool - a pendant / fan

Perfect for summer, this lovely necklace doubles as a stylish fan. The design features a ten layer pattern which transforms in three dimensions. It is at once highly geometric and organic. The morphing profile gives the open fan a shape reminiscent of a nautilus while the pattern inside radiates like a flower. Dimensions: 5.4" x 1.6" x .4" (in pendant form) ------------------------------------------------ This is the .EPS file for the fan necklace. To assemble it you will need something with a diameter of 3/32" to rivet together the fan. We used aluminum tube that you can find at most hardware stores. Cut the tube to size with a saw or a dremel, insert it through the layers and then hammer on both sides to create a rivet.

Lily pad table

This is a prototype for a table we starting working on and then never finished. Needs to be painted but the photos here give an idea of the construction method and final result. We made a few errors in the tolerances so there was much sanding involved and it's a bit wobbly...although whether that is due to the tolerance problems or inherent to the design we are not sure. any comments are appreciated. I'm not sure if we are going to finish this project or not. the original problem we set ourselves was how to make a complex 3 dimensional table from flat members. The branching base supports three separate plexi tops.

Orchid Necklace

Thirty-nine layers of plastic are sculpted into a fluid form inspired by the morphology of orchids. A stainless steel cable threads through the entire piece, underlining the simple stacked construction of this complex design. A sterling silver magnetic clasp provides closure at back. dimensions: 3.4"x3.3"x.9" with a 28" stainless steel cable and sterling silver magnetic clasp.

Radiolaria Bracelet

Thin plastic is laser cut into an organic network of distorting ellipses. The pattern displays shifts in direction and scale, creating a sense of movement and tension around the wrist. These complex forms recall those of radiolarians, plant cells and even the familiar honey comb. Creating jewelry that relates to the 3-dimensional shape of the body can be quite challenging with 2-D manufacturing methods like laser cutting. This bracelet takes advantage of the flexibility of PET plastic to create a unique design that molds to your arm. It laces with a satin ribbon allowing it to fit many different wrist sizes. The PET plastic is clear and can be left that way, or painted any color you want. I've painted mine white! This is just one of many possible designs. Dendrite Brooch

Acrylic plastic is laser cut into delicate forms inspired by the aggregate growth of coral and dendrite crystals. The brooch is affixed by a sterling silver pinstem and clutch. The brooch has no predetermined orientation but in the photos we show our two favorite ways to wear it. The pattern was generated using a diffusion limited aggregation algorithm.
