There are 7 possible different 'tetrahex' shapes, as shown in the photos. This item consists of 8 sets (i.e. 56 pieces, 8 of each of the 7 shapes). The main photo shows one set of 7 pieces. A crayon and a coin (US quarter) are shown for scale. The other photo shows 1 of the many shapes you can make with these 7 pieces. I have deliberately left small gaps between the pieces so you can see the individual pieces more easily. The pieces actually fit together very precisely. The white fuzzy blobs visible on some of the pieces are reflections of clouds. The acrylic sheet has paper backing on both sides during laser cutting, and this paper will still be attached when you receive it. You will need to peel the paper off yourself.

This is just a combination of 1 P2 (15.75 inch x 15.75 inch) sheet of tetrahexes (8 sets, 56 pieces) and 1 P2 sheet of pentiamonds (18 sets + 3 extras, 75 pieces in all). If you want both of these then you will save $12 (including shipping) by getting this, compared with getting those items separately.

This is the design file for the tetrahex puzzle pieces in my showroom. From a P2 (15.75" x 15.75") sheet It makes 56 pieces: 8 copies of each of the 7 tetrahex shapes. The photos show one set of 7 pieces, and one of the many shapes you can make from a set. The third image shows (as blue lines) the cuts made by the laser as it cuts the pieces out of the square sheet. As of Sept 23 2012, Ponoko will make this design from 3 mm acrylic for: $10.99 (material) + $18.57 (laser-cutting) + approx. $11 (shipping by UPS ground to lower 48 U.S. states).
