Peapod Stool

Designed using concentric cuts to minimize waste and fit perfectly onto Ponoko's sheet sizes, the Peapod Stool uses laser-cut 10mm material to create a shape that breaks out of the literal box that seems to constrain so much laser-cut furniture. Goes together with no hardware and works as a small table, as well. I'm working on the second prototype now. When the design is complete I'll also include a cushion.

Each piece is created around a concise statement to serve as a personal, daily reminder. Included in the line is a stool ("rest"), a desk ("work") and a mirror ("reflect"). Their manufacturing process is highly efficient because they exist only as digital files until ordered, and then are manufactured and shipped locally. Once an order is in place, it is manufactured and shipped from a facility that is local to the customer. They are flat packed and assembled by the user using only a mallet. Every part is lasercut from flat materials. The dark, burnt edges, a natural result of the laser cutting process, are showcased as a graphical element that frames the form. The hollow cutout of the letterforms allows light to shine through and cast a shadow of the word on a nearby surface.

Adirondack Chair

This is a scaled down model of an Adirondack chair. Measures 3.25" tall x 2.75" deep x 2.5" wide. Glued together with wood glue or epoxy. Enough pieces to make 2 chairs from each sheet. This is a more involved project and requires skill and patience.
