Owl Embroidery Floss Organizer

This is a product designed for use with needlework projects such as crewel, embroidery, needlepoint and cross stitch. It is used to hold and separate each color of yarn or floss being used with a project.

Until I designed this little cutie the only shape I had ever seen for an embroidery floss organizer was a butterfly. So I decided to make something a little cuter. This item allows you to not only organize all of your yarn for a needlework project, but an attached rare earth magnet holds on to your needle when you aren't using it.

This item measures about 3 1/2 inches tall and 2 inches wide. It has 15 holes for yarn and thread, each measures about 3/8 inch across. See my showroom for another version with some larger holes.

CURRENTLY ONLY AVAILABLE IN WHITE OR BLUE

Mail Snail [kit]

The Mail Snail is a small desktop mail organizer made of bamboo, available as a direct kit with some simple assembly required. Suitable for standard-sized envelopes, there are two slots for sorting mail.

For customizing the material, the plans are available for purchase: http://www.ponoko.com/design-your-own/products/mailsnail-plans--9373

Assembly:
1. Pop out the three uprights and the base from the cut sheet.
2. Peel off the protective paper from both sides of the pieces.
3. Simply insert the square tabs of the three uprights into the base, orienting the pieces so the silhouette forms a spiral from the side.

Depending on the tolerances of the material, glue may not be necessary, but is strongly recommended. Apply small amounts of ordinary white glue or wood glue to the sides of the tabs before inserting the tabs into the base. Let the glue set overnight for maximum strength.

The final product is roughly 7 inches long, 3 inches wide, and 3 inches tall.

Adhesive cork or felt circles from a local hardware store are helpful for anti-skid.

Doggy Lamp/Desk Organizer

The Doggy Lamp/Desk Organizer is an artistic, dog-shaped lamp that doubles as a place to store office supplies. It is assembled from laser-cut wooden parts and some bolts. The light itself is controlled by an Arduino Uno microprocessor and is capable of emitting red, blue, green, or white light in addition to the option of slowly fading from red to blue to green in a cycle.

Organize your DIY bits-and-pieces

This is a frame for organizing and carrying my DIY and electronics bits-and-pieces. You know,... all that small stuff like spare nuts and bolts, resistors, etc that just get lumped together into random container(s) that just get stacked on top of each other in some odd corner of your workshop.

You can now organize your stuff using commonly available 0.5L plastic food containers. Ten containers fit neatly into the shelves, which have end-stops to prevent the containers from sliding out under normal circumstances, without getting in the way. Cut-outs on the shelves make it easier to reach in and slide out the containers (and also permits the shelves to be stacked closer together).

Continuing the 'food container' theme, the centre area is opened up so I could put in a taller "breakfast cereal container" for holding the 'tall stuff'.

Made from sturdy 6mm plywood, with some additional reinforcing pieces, just in case. The handle is an off-cut from a broom handle.

This design is still awaiting initial construction, and debugging - so there are no guarantees that it actually fits together properly yet.
