Box Lamp

These files are for the Box Lamp which you can personalize by engraving patterns on to it. It comes with the flowers in the file but you can delete them and add your own pattern. It is designed to be made with 4.5mm Arctic Ice acrylic and 4.75mm Hardboard. See the photo of the Space Invaders engraving for an example of vector engraving. [If you plan on using Inkscape to alter the files, contact me and I can email you some .svg files so that you can edit the design in Inkscape. Unfortunately Inkscape will not let you open an eps file.]

Wood bloom

This delicate bloom is cut out of thin wood, with a network of intricate engraved lines adding depth and detail. It is fairly large, but remains visually light and elegant, and can be worn as a brooch ( with a pinback glued to the backside) or as a pendant (strung on a thin cord). We like it best worn as a very feminine pendant on bare skin, or as a brooch worn very close to the neck as if it grew out of your shirt collar.

'Tea' patterned Box Lamp

Derived from Dan's box lamp: http://www.ponoko.com/showroom/madebydan/401 It is designed to be made with 4.5mm Arctic Ice acrylic and 4.75mm Hardboard. This design uses two different patterns over the four panels: one a geometric tessellation inspired by tea-leaves, the other a tessellation of typographical forms from the translation of 'tea' into various scripts. The patterns were scanned from drawings and automatically traced in Illustrator so are unnecessarily complex in terms of paths - if anyone would like to simplify them to reduce the cutting costs, that would be great! The panels slot together and are meant to be held in friction by small hardboard wedges, however in practice I think this system needs more development - or maybe I got the hardboard thickness wrong. There is currently a lot of wastage on the hardboard sheet, so you might want to consider adding any other items you want cut to that one.

Profile Floor Lamp

The cutout design of this floor lamp's base incorporates a classic (albeit oversized) candlestick profile. The lamp has an oblong frosted shade and a small footprint. Although designed to accommodate a simple lamp kit, pillar candles (properly secured) also work well in this lamp. Easy assembly. Lighting hardware not included (instructions provided). 44.5 inches tall Base: .39 inch veneer (choice of finish) Shade: .18 inch Arctic Ice frosted acrylic.

Light Table (4mm)

A light table is essential equipment for any designer copying patterns, artist making copies of a pattern or child wanting to learn how to draw. This is a very simple yet strong light table that gives you the flexibility of choosing how you wish to integrate the lighting source using removable back panels. All that is needed for assembly is some carpenters glue and a few hours to allow everything to dry together. This light table also includes a frosted acrylic panel to let just enough light through which fits perfectly into place. The frosted acrylic panel doesn't need to be glued-in so you can easily work on a flat surface for set-up followed by dropping it into place to complete your work. Please note that unlike plastic, wood will swell when exposed to damp environments. Acrylic is friendly with most drawing utensils except the sharp ones that may scratch its surface. Approximate dimensions: 26cm high, length of 38cm with a width of 28cm. Material thickness is 4mm. Total surface area of the front panel is 38cm in length by 36cm in height. The "Franklin" Lamp

Mixing the styles of Art Deco and Moderne, this lamp makes a wonderful decorative accent. The main source of light is the marquee styled body, and the spires have edges that glow. The lamp looks great from all sides, in fact a pair would make wonderful lit bookends. The lamp is made of black and clear acrylic, and comes with a 5 foot cord and 7 watt bulb. Dimensions are 11.5 inches high, 7 inches long, and 4.25 inches wide. Each lamp is numbered on the label embedded in its' base.
