Earring Aids

In Africa, certain tribes wear jewellery to keep evil spirits away from their body. The earrings I designed are a Western variant on this concept. The Aids virus is one of our evil spirits, and wearing these earrings intimately reminds you of its now a little less invisible presence. In this sense they are real 'earring aids'.

Each earring is shaped like a cell of the Aids-virus, which has a natural beauty of itself. Made out of black acrylic, these pieces will definitely get you noticed.

Mice

Some cute mouse earrings on technoply beech. The mouse is a shadow in his mousehole, which hangs from a standard hook earring. They can also be used as ornaments, or a necklace, or whatever else you might want a mouse for.

Edgy elf earrings

This design takes the idea of a pair of earrings into a new level. The earrings are no longer passive decorations, they became a statement and an extension of your personality.

This simply designed “earring” takes the idea of an elf/animal ear and uses simply laser cut layers to bring earrings into an edgy new definition.

The design is for 1 pair of earrings. You will love it!

Arty-visual Ear - (click to see left ear)

Arty-visual Ear (AE)

Purpose:
Although pierced earrings are common accessories, there are people that cannot have ear piercing due to skin conditions, cultural restrictions or personal preference. The AE is revolutionary as it allows you to wear pierced earrings even if your ears are not pierced.

Design:
The shape and form are inspired by nature: the waves and the New Zealand Koru plant. The left & right ear pieces are not identical in design to thematically represent the ever changing waves. I combined the prototype (see photos) with different studs and am still having fun changing them. The AE design comes with a pair of clip-on and a pair of hook-on earrings. Mix & Match your own combinations, the possibilities are endless.

Left-Ear-Piece:
Material = Ponoko’s 3mm white acrylic
Function = Clip-on, 3 through-holes for studs and/or additional hook-on earrings.

Right-Ear-Piece:
Material = Ponoko’s 3mm white acrylic
Function = Clip-on, 5 through-holes for studs and/or additional hook-on earrings.

Pair of Earrings:
Material = Ponoko’s 3mm Arctic Ice (Frosted 1-side) acrylic
Function = Additional pair of hook-on earrings.

Ear protector earrings

The earrings are inspired by the curve shape of the ear and bringing a surprise element to earring design. When worn attached to the ear, the earring protects the ear and uses the earlobe to both secure the earring and intergrates the shape of the earlobe into the design so that the ear is truly a intergal part of the earring, not just a passive decoration.

When worn passively - on a hook, the earring can be hang in four different directions.

This entry plays with the layering effect of the materials, the subtle change in color gives the impression of strong shape and 3D effect.

Lily of the Valley Earrings

This is a design for a pair of earrings that use mixed materials - two parts are cut from plastic and engraved natural MDF, the other parts are hand-made metal jewelry parts. The diagrams should explain it properly. I used translucency with other parts to give it a dimensional feel. The frosted white is meant to provide contrast on a dark background, like dark hair.
