"Hands" Corner-Shelf

The "Hands" Corner Shelf is what FUN looks like, if it were made of furniture.

The shelf is made from 5 interlocking pieces of eurolite plywood (or MDF). It mounts easily to any 90° corner with 4 drywall screws, and when it is assembled (without tools or glue) the mounting screws are hidden from view.

The item displayed was stained with a light maple color to enhance the wood grain. Eurolite can be stained any color or can be left it's natural color. (Shown in the second photo.)

Dimensions:
At it's widest point, the shelf is 12" across, 6" deep, and the hands are 7.8" from top to bottom.

The shelf piece has a small notch in the back to run a power cord for a clock or small lamp. For diversity, the shelf piece can be stained a different color on each side and can easily be flipped over within 30 seconds. Once the shelf is locked in place, it is very sturdy.

If you want to produce products with this very convenient flexible hinge arrangement, you should be aware of the practical limits to ensure your products are not likely to fail in normal use.

This product is a 44mm radius, 90 degree corner shape so the samples can be shown at their intended operating condition.

Samples are available separately: http://www.ponoko.com/design-your-own/products/lattice-hinge-test-2-small-stress-limitation-9088
