Nouvaeu Leaf Bracelet & Necklace

This is a bracelet or necklace called Braided Leaf. I liked the idea of having something organic wrapped around your wrist. Like when you’re a child and you make necklaces out of daisies. I thought that a leaf shape would look subtle and elegant. The design is very modular as it allows for many different shapes and you can add more links to turn it from a bracelet to a necklace. You can also apply engraving effects to the top of each link. I thought some leaf veins would suit the shape.

Keyboard Bracelet

This is a ~7.5" long bracelet with the design of a standard piano or keyboard. The black keys are a heavy raster. There are holes in each key to thread the bracelet together using twine, elastic, or whatever you like! Also you can shorten the bracelet if necessary by simply omitting some of the pieces.

EDIT: Just got the parts in, the heavy raster didn't work on the black keys (they just came out white like the rest) but I just gave them a light coat of black spray paint and voila!

Just FYI for anyone interested.

RAYA Bracelet

Four bracelets cut from transparent acrylic, each one engraved with a graphic pattern. Coloured ink is rubbed into the engraved area to accentuate the design and add a subtle new dimension. At once sophisticated and playful, these bracelets can be worn in any combination.

Sophia

This project is about the celebration of the materials and manufacturing method at hand.

Sophia is a unique bracelet that combines two different materials that play well together. In design, as in life, relationships are important. With that, a focus was given to connecting the materials in a pure way without the need of any outside influence. The acrylic pieces flex enough to be press fit into the MDF then return to their cut shape to hold the bracelet together. Once complete, the acrylic is reminiscent of brilliant gemstones while linking together the sophisticated Sophia to compliment the most elegant wrists.

NOTE: If you would like a particular color of Acrylic, please let me know.

Tangle Bracelet

The tangle bracelet is a sculptural cuff that snaps together from a set of 11 pieces. Two semi-circular pieces form the skeleton, while the other nine pieces attach onto this framework in a pinwheel configuration.

Each side piece is a unique tangle of curves reminiscent of brambles climbing up your arm. Each piece has a small solid portion that becomes covered by overlapping sides where it attaches to the skeleton.

Each side can be generated uniquely for every piece, so that every time the bracelet is made it is different.

Backfire? Laser Gun Bracelet

This is a laser-engraved bracelet with the image of a laser gun possibly shooting itself. The pieces will be heated and formed into bracelets then the etched lines will be filled with intaglio ink as a play on the concept of etching and to further make the illustration 'pop'. I call it "Backfire?"

Animation Bracelet

It is an acrylic bracelet, which has two nested portions, the outer of which rotates freely on the inner, and which is held in place by a clasp. The bracelet is made 12mm wide by fusing identical 6mm portions together. The outer portion has glued to it ten tiles with raster etched images, depicting frames from a cyclic animation of a galloping horse with a rider. The outer portion can be spun to show it in motion. The animation is from a famous series of photographs taken by Eadweard Muybridge in 1878 (they are now in the public domain). His work in motion studies were a great inspiration to the worldwide artistic community, especially the Italian Futurists. In designing my entry, I tried to make something that could only be easily made using Ponoko's manufacturing service. I designed it around my wrist size, but the design could be modified to fit many sizes. Variations could be made to display different subjects. You can view an animated GIF I created for this project at http://www.benscheele.com/Final_Animation.gif
I added it to the showroom before the deadline, but there was an error and I couldn't do anything about it, so I went to sleep. Here it is again, and I hope you accept it (and like it).
