Designed with the glyphs from the book "Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons", each bear features one of the sound-glyphs engraved on its side. Why bears rather than simple cards? The familiar shape of the animal defines right-side-up for a child, and the fact that the bears are walking from left to right reinforces the directionality of reading. Each of 40 sounds has its own bear, and they should fit in a box designed to hold 4*6 cards or photos.

This mobile can be cut out of any plywood or even felt or acrylic. Because there are no interlocking parts, material thickness doesn't make a difference. For assembly you will require some string, and it might take some experimentation to get the animals balancing properly.

Nesting Animal Puzzle

All kinds of animals snuggly fitting together without any carnivorous carnage. The puzzle is designed for a P1 bamboo, but it's very scalable, so you can make it on a P2. The grain of the bamboo means that the assembly isn't too difficult. The puzzle file doesn't include a base, so you may want to cut one to glue the border on and hold all the pieces together. Alternatively, you can scrap the border altogether and cut out the animals only.
