Crocodile-ball

Thirty crocodiles entangled in a magic ball; no glue, no screws.
Find the underlying geometric pattern to weave the crocodiles together. If that’s not enough challenge for you; invent your own rules how they interact. There are three different crocodiles and you decide how they can or can’t interact. ‘Would you still be asleep if someone was biting your tail?’

3d Puzzle

"3D" is a play on words and represents my frustration with trying to create something that escapes the restrictions of the 2 dimensional manufacturing process.

I attempted several other designs and always ended up with something that was not possible using a laser cutter on a flat plane.

"3D" eventually emerged as a cruel joke; taunting me and my inadequacies.

Made of 10mm Colour Rimu, this is a modern twist on the traditional wooded puzzle. On the surface there appears to be alot of repetition but each D is slightly different which adds to the complexity of this seemingly simple design.

Ponoku Anyone?

It’s Sudoku by Ponoko!!

Ponoku??

Anyways…. ;-) This idea combines wood puzzles and the traditional numbers game in a whole new way. The rules are the same as the original. This one started out as “Extreme Difficulty” but becomes a little easier in the melding of the two forms. Don’t be fooled though, it’ll still give the grey matter a workout.

Enjoy.

P.S.

Minor assembly required to glue the main back piece to the rest of the board. Current design has the same puzzle repeated 4 times.

Custom puzzles are available.

Knot

In the summer of my 12, my vacancy was in the house of my grandparents. Alone, waiting some friends, during the first week I made this 3d puzzle with a wooden piece found in backyard warehouse of my grandfather.

Here the 2008 revision, for the Ponoko Contest.

Dimension is proportional to the material's thicknesses,
the example shows:
- white acrylic 3mm
- whiteboard double-sided 6mm
- clear transparent acrylic 8mm

Nice to test your ability, to make a gift and to hidden some text engraved inside the knot.

(12 pieces to make the 'Knot')

The one that got away

‘The one that got away’

Thirteen runners ready at the start line but only twelve seem to make it to the finish…?
This puzzle is not about the pieces falling together; that’s the easy part. You solved its mystery when you can explain what happened to the one that got away.
This little puzzle makes an excellent conversation piece on your desk or coffee table.

Build (h)and Share : Maze maker

This is an attempt to make a puzzle in the spirit of "passing on".
Arrange the disks to make your own maze and challenge each other!

It's a 3 dimensional maze made up of 30 disks and a bar with 2 pegs to hold them in place.
-The ring piece with a head is used to walk through the maze.
-You can pick 2(or 1 if you'd like) colors of acrylic plates and also get some extra disks/pegs etc. to style your maze.
-One .eps file would be laser cut in 2 acrylic plates, P1 in 0.12 inches thickness.

For Ponoko 10-Day Design Challenge.

Word Dominoes Puzzle

A dominoes puzzle with words instead of pips!

These word dominoes combine, in pairs, to form phrases and compounds words. Lay out the dominoes to make a solid rectangle, five words wide by eight words high, in which all connected dominoes form phrases and compound words. All of the words on the dominoes will face in the same direction, but you will have to read some pairs from right to left or upwards for them to make sense.

Puzzle Coasters

Put these jigsaw puzzle pieces on your table, where they can serve as handy coasters. When you get bored, see what words you can make with the letters on them. When you’re warmed up, go for the real challenge -- arrange all 16 puzzle pieces in a 4x4 grid, so that you get four words reading across and four different words reading down. Don’t give up too easily! Once you’ve solved it, scramble the letters and leave it for guests to play with when they’re finished with their drinks. Sets come in two colors, with vowels in one color and consonants in another color.

I can also create customized versions of this puzzle.

Favicon Puzzle

The "Favicon Puzzle" brings pixel-aesthetics to a real life product. Website favicons are transformed into a 16*16 elements slide puzzle. The concept works on different scales so it doesn´t have to be restricted to the favicon pixel size.
