Spirosketch - functional bracelet and necklace set, drawing tool

Carry some fun with you everywhere you go!

This bracelet and necklace set is also a fully functional drawing tool. Just remove the pendant from its special hook-shaped bail and hold the bangle bracelet down against your drawing surface. Put the tip of a pen through one of the pendant's holes and use the pen to roll the pendant around the inside of the bracelet. Try different holes to see how the pattern changes.

I've specially designed the gearing on the Spirosketch to make for a smooth and comfortable inner surface on the bangle. Bangle measures 3.25" across, with a 2.25" inner diameter. Pendant comes on an 18" rubber cord.

Note: All of the designs you see in these pictures were drawn with the Spirosketch.

If you'd prefer other colors for the bangle and/or pendant, please contact me and I'll see what I can do.

Plate No. 144 of the Cycloidal Scribbling-Engine

This is exactly like the toy you remember, only bigger and with more options. Each plate is cut from 3mm clear acrylic, is 7" (18cm) across, and includes a variety of rings and gears in several sizes. The individual plates work as self-contained sets, or they can be combined with each other to make an ever-increasing number of different patterns.

The laser-cut plate will be shipped directly from Ponoko to you, which means that you'll need to provide your own pins, pin-board (I recommend foamcore), and pens. NOTE! This drawing tool uses pins with sharp points. It is not recommended that you give it to a small child (or foolish grown-up person) who might eat the pins. Eating pins is pretty much always a bad idea.

There's a slightly longer discussion of pins and pens on my page of notes, which also addresses the problem of pen-skid: http://polychroma.com/spiro-info.html

Plate 144 contains outer ring 144, inner/outer ring 144-96, inner/outer ring 96-63, and gear 63. All the patterns shown in this group were drawn using parts from this plate only.

Plate 84 contains gears 84, 52, 48, 36, 30, and 21. Any smaller gear can be used to draw inside the cut-out opening from any larger gear, so there are lots of possible combinations! This listing is for three plates: 150, 144, and 84. However, if you'd like a different set of three (or even three all the same), please send me a message. There are a lot of possible patterns once you combine the parts from all three plates. I've made a printable PDF of inside patterns, which may be found here: http://polychroma.com/spiro/patternguide.pdf
