Tiny Stroke Only Alphabet

File contains entire alphabet plus punctuations, brackets and a few other randoms. Characters are only 1mm tall. Any smaller and you will start to loose the inside of characters like 'A' and 'B' using the heavy vector setting. On a light wood like the bamboo the light vector setting seems to work well; while the heavy on plastics allow you to paint fill to improve readability. This character set was based on the free pixel font "Wendy" which you can find here: http://www.dafont.com/wendy.font I used the font as a initial guide when laying out my line segments. Unlike the pixel font as many lines segments as possible are joined to allow easy scaling to larger sizes. Notes: -Some samples are shown with acrylic paint fills to improve contrast. -These are only grouped lines, so you'll need to manually place letters onto your design one by one. Free File Friday #23

O-Ring Slots

Sample slots for holding 3mm pieces together using O rings. This allows you to have a more forgiving fit with pieces but still keep the parts snugly together. Also lessens the chance of a customer breaking their acrylic items trying to snap them together. Suitable for both wood and acrylic materials. Orings shown are EPDM Rubber 5/16". DIYLILCNC Version 1.0.2 (OUTDATED)

The downloadable file here is more than likely outdated and I strongly recommend you check out http://diylilcnc.org to find the most recent version of this open source CNC machine. Plain Clothes Pin

A vector of the wooden part of a clothes pin. To scale so you could actually make working copies if you wished. More of a starting point to make some customized clothes pins; make them into animals or other fun shapes. Perhaps some kind of wall art... Half of the original clothes pin was 10mm D, 85mm long and 6mm high. If you want it to fit with a donor spring I suggest making them on 9mm-10mm thick materials. Robotic Arm Ponoko Ready File WIP

Although you can cut this WIP file there are several steps to optimizing the layout to lower making costs. Could be quite a bit of savings so it'd be worth the time for someone making the design @ ponoko. I have setup the design to conform to Ponoko's needs, regrouped parts for easier moving and moved a few spots of unneeded part overlap... Here's some more changes I'd recommend take place in the file: -Right now it's in a P3 sheet although this design might fit if re-nested into a P2 sheet; this will lower material cost and waste. -Reorganize parts to share more cutlines. Lowers making cost. -Remove shared overlapping cutlines. Lowers making cost. -There are some more areas of unneeded part overlap that do not save money and might be simply small placement errors. -Double check part dimensions to increase cutline sharing. Some examples of uneven sides, the top of RARM-17 and the left side of part RARM-06A. There could be a reason for these that I'm unaware of? -Couple circles that show as vector lines, double check that they shouldn't be cuts instead. If you decide to make these changes to better this file for cutting in Ponokos system reupload the design for others to use. Let me know and I will link to the new file from this page. -Josh Reuss

Small Acrylic Chain

For the first self titled "Free File Friday" I have a sheet of small chain links that fits into a P1 sheet. These are small enough that you need to heat the links up before attempting to click them together. The result is a tightly fitting chain you could work into lighting fixture designs, earrings, bracelets and necklaces; cost permitting. Feel free to incorporate this into your designs, free and for profit. Measurements: 10mm outside diameter, 6mm Dia. inside. 256 links on the sheet, adjust the ratio of solid to open links as needed. Materials: You need to use 3mm or thinner material. Tips: Heat the links with the openings just enough to allow clearance of solid links. Too much and the acrylic will deform. Free File Fridays #1
