Cecilia
http://www.ponoko.com/showroom/jjohnsen/1152
This project is about the celebration of the materials and manufacturing method at hand.
Cecilia is a unique pendant that combines two different materials that play well together. In design, as in life, relationships are important. With that, a focus was given to connecting the materials in a pure way without the need of any outside influence. The acrylic pieces are cut just enough to be press fit into the MDF. The acrylic is reminiscent of brilliant gemstones while also providing a place to lace through a necklace. Once complete, Cecilia adds a sophisticated touch to compliment the most elegant necklines.
A light stain is applied to the wooden piece to bring out the grain in the veneer. A natural hemp fiber is used as the necklace to compliment the natural aesthetic of the wooden piece. The acrylic eye is reversible to give the wearer options on how to exhibit the pendant.

http://www.ponoko.com/showroom/madebydan/397
A stand for your laptop that raises the screen to a height that is better for your posture. The stand slopes the keyboard down at the front so you can still use the keyboard. It can be customized to the dimensions of your computer so just let me know what they are and I will personalize a stand for you. It can be made from classic 6mm Hardboard [see photos] or the lightweight 6mm Poplar.

Thu, 08 May 2008 04:46:47 GMThttp://www.ponoko.com/showroom/madebydan/397?time=Sun+Nov+25+01%3A28%3A22+UTC+2007madebydan

http://www.ponoko.com/showroom/ckharnett/1194
Carbon is a snap-together construction set of hexagons, pentagons and connectors to build open and closed 3-dimensional surfaces from 1mm thick styrene.
Details of the connectors are highlighted when a Carbon capsule is used as a low-wattage lamp shade (pictured) on a table lamp. A type "T" 25-watt bulb fits into the capsule easily. Avoid larger bulbs or higher wattages to prevent warping or melting the styrene.
The eps file carboncapsule.eps contains enough pieces to build the lampshade, plus a few extras. If designing your own set of pieces, be sure to keep the part edges at least 5mm apart on your layout. See photos for alternate views of the assembled capsule and some illustrations on how to assemble the connectors and polygons.

Sat, 19 Apr 2008 22:56:12 GMThttp://www.ponoko.com/showroom/ckharnett/1194?time=Mon+Apr+14+01%3A17%3A00+UTC+2008ckharnettSnake-Like Creature
http://www.ponoko.com/showroom/reedwade/1189
A segmented snake-like creature. This is my first Ponoko item and the press to fit worked much better than I had expected. The connecting segments are just tight enough that you have to twist them in and after a few turns they're just loose enough to give snake friend a pleasing movement.
I used Inkscape to lay it out. You can find the SVG file here:
