Buying FAQs

How do I buy?

Click "Buy Now" to purchase an item from the Showroom. This will take you through a regular online checkout process, using PayPal. Because Ponoko is a marketplace and not a retailer, you will pay the seller directly with a credit card or your own PayPal account. You do not need a PayPal account to buy something from a Ponoko seller.

When you have made payment you will get an email confirming your order. If you have questions about an item, contact the seller before you buy. You can do this by clicking the "Contact the designer" button in the designer's Showroom.

Do I need a Ponoko account to buy something?

Yes. If you are buying something from the Showroom and you don't have a Ponoko account yet that's ok, we'll create one for you during the checkout process. It's free to create a Ponoko account.

Can I buy from multiple items in a single order?

No, not yet. At the moment you have to check out each item separately, but we're working on it. We keep you posted about updates on our blog.

How long will it take to get my product?

If you are buying a product plan , you will be able to download it from the Showroom as soon as your payment has been confirmed.

If you are buying a finished product, the delivery time depends on the shipping method selected by the seller of the product—and the destination. Ponoko sellers have differing shipping policies, so please contact the seller to find out more. You can do this by clicking on the "Contact the designer" button on the page your product appears. Please refer to Shipping FAQs for buyers for more information.

When and how do I pay for my product?

You pay the seller direct via PayPal during the check out process, so you either need a credit card or your own PayPal account. You will get an email confirming your order and payment.

Do I need a PayPal account to purchase an item?

No. You can pay with your credit card and our system will use the PayPal service to process your payment. Select to pay with your credit card when prompted to do so during the check out process. You will also have the option to create a PayPal account, but you don't need to if you don't want to.

I'm located outside the US—can I still buy from Ponoko?

Absolutely. Items that are shipped direct from Ponoko can be shipped anywhere in the world. If the product is shipped by the designer, they decide which destinations they are willing to ship to. If your country isn't included, contact the designer and ask them if they are willing to add it to their shipping destinations.

All prices are listed in US dollars. PayPal will automatically convert your currency if you are located outside the US.

What if I pay and no one ships it to me?

Your first port of call is to contact the designer. If that proves unsuccessful, then email us here

Can I return it if there's a problem?

Each designer has a returns policy that you can check out before you buy. If you need to return an item, you must contact the designer directly, not Ponoko.

So why does Ponoko have a returns policy?

We have a returns policy so that designers are able to return cut parts to us if there's a problem. You can read our returns policy here.

Can I see a history of my purchases?

No, not yet, but we're working on it. We tell you about software updates on our blog

What are my options if a material is no longer available?

From time to time, we have to remove a material from our catalogue which means products using this material can not longer be made. If this happens, contact the designer and ask them if they still have products left in stock or if the product can be made using an alternative material.
