See the ultimate guide here

This opportunity comes as a result of us launching a new service for event marketers and businesses to design and make promo products from scratch, using our design/make community of 150,000 creative minds!

Your Payment

It’s your call, you set the price you feel works for Cirque du Soleil and you.

Your Challenge

Design an exciting promotional gift to celebrate the end of the Cirque du Soleil production of Quidam currently touring in Australia and New Zealand.

Your Audience

The amazingly creative and fiercely brave cast and crew of the Cirque du Soleil production of Quidam.

Your Goal

Your promo product will:
* Say thank you to the cast and crew, and provide them with an ongoing memory of their tour.
* Be small and packable. Recipients will carry it home in their suitcase.
* Be big enough to be displayed on a wall, shelf, or desk at home.
* Incorporate all the iconic images of the production – a blue bowler hat, a blue umbrella, boxing gloves, a red balloon and a target.

Manufacturing Considerations

* Your product must be manufacturable using a laser cutter or 3D printer.
* Single part designs are preferred.
* Designs with additional components or assembly are not advised unless the concept is flatpack to be assembled by your product’s user. For example, a pop out puzzle.

Dear Ponoko,

I am beyond ecstatic about this new venture your company is embarking on! I am away from my computer for the weekend but upon return will send my portfolio ASAP. This Cirque de Soleil, along with the previous Salesforce contest, are exciting projects. I thrive on conceptualizing around briefs that are innovative, imaginative, and only restricted by the capabilities of laser cutting and 3D printing.

My question regarding the Cirque contest: would you prefer to see 3 examples of work that reflect your capabilities, i.e. laser cutting and 3D printing? Though I have experience designing for people who then manufacture my designs, I don’t personally have many photos representing physical products. I really want to showcase my creativity in a concise way. Any input would be much appreciated. I’d also like to know how to get on board, or ahead of the curve rather, when it comes to working alongside you as you expand on the promotional products venture.

Either way, I can’t wait to see this project take off. I have been a struggling designer for longer than expected and have settled for less…which I hate.

Thanks for promoting and supporting the design community. Its great to have an innovative support group.

Be in touch soon.

Hi, i just read the brief for Quidam and am now excited to try and put some ideas out i just wished that i had read the email earlier! I have a question about step 1- when you say send us your portfolio for top 3 past designs, i just want to clarify that this is past design work and not related to Quidam right? If this is the case I am currently on the road and am wondering if i could direct you to my online portfolio site? Thank you so much, regards Sinem

@Sinem – the 3 examples should be work that highlights your skills as a designer. Linking us to an online portfolio is great.

@Austin – The 3 examples don’t necessarily have to reflect laser cutting or 3D printed projects. We really just want to see where your talents as a designer lie.
