The 10-Day Design Challenge fine print
Design requirements
- It must be possible for Ponoko to make the main component of your design.
- Designs must be new (ie. not already hosted on Ponoko).
- You can only use materials in the Ponoko materials catalog.
- You can use extras such as hooks, chains, clasps, pins etc. (supplied and assembled by you).
- If you submit multiple designs, they must be unique. Please do not just submit iterations of the same design.
- Designs may be as simple or as complex as you want.
Judging criteria
Entries/finalists will be judged on the following criteria, in no particular order:
- Innovation in design concept.
- Clarity and resolution of design and final product.
- Originality.
- Presentation and photography.
- Interesting use of material(s).
- Attention to detail.
- Production feasibility and quality.
Terms and eligibility
- The 10-Day Design Challenge opens on the 1st day of the month and Open Round entries must be received by the 10th day of the month – this is the 10-day design challenge!
- All timelines are Pacific Standard Time (PST).
- The challenge is open to all designers, makers, hackers, crafter, artists, creators and clever people anywhere in the world Ponoko can ship products to. If you are under the age of 16, you should get a parent or guardian’s permission before you enter. Employees of Ponoko and their immediate families are ineligible for the prizes.
- Originality – the challenge is open to new designs only. A new design is one that is not already hosted somewhere within Ponoko.
- We can only accept entries via your Ponoko Showroom which requires you to have your own MyPonoko seller's account.
- You may enter as many times as you like. Prizes are attributed to a design and any person can win multiple prizes with unique designs.
- Winners will be notified by email and announced on the Ponoko website and through external media.
- Ponoko’s decision is final in every situation and no correspondence will be entered into.
- Ponoko reserves the right to cancel any challenge at any stage and for any reason.
- Entrants will be deemed to have accepted these rules and to agree to be bound by them when entering the challeng.
- This agreement is governed by the laws of New Zealand. The promoter of this challenge is Ponoko Limited of 795 Folsom Street, San Francisco, California 94107, USA and 27 Dixon Street, Wellington 6011, New Zealand.
- Ponoko will not pass on your personal details to any other organization without your permission except for the purposes of running this challenge. Our privacy policy can be viewed here.
Your intellectual property and copyright
- You retain ownership of all your intellectual property rights for your designs and products. Apart from a limited license to display the designs and products on our website, we are not given any interest in them at all.
- This means that whether you win a prize or not, you retain ownership of your creations, including any financial benefits that may flow from them.
